2022 VTR SCR Gimmick Rallye Results

Friday morning, April 21st broke to cloudy skies and pleasant temperatures, perfect for the 20+ cars that participated in the Gimmick Rally. The roughly two hour 15 minute drive took teams through parts of the Texas Hill Country, north of Boerne. The Bevy Hotel served as the starting point/finish for the Gimmick Rally and a couple of quick turns led teams onto west-bound I-10 for approximately four miles. After exiting I-10, the remaining 30 miles featured winding roads, scenic overlooks, low water crossings, majestic oaks and ranches galore.

The Rally Master came up with 73 clues/questions, one tiebreaker question and a second tiebreaker based upon the time differential to the average time of the top ten finishers. While two teams got 66 correct answers, neither got the tiebreaker question correct. By means of the time differential, the team of Robert Skewis and Bill Waller (Hill Country Triumph Club - Austin) took first place, while the team of Mike McPhail and Benson Tuttle (Hill Country Triumph Club) took second place. The team of Andrew and Chris Holliday (Central Oklahoma Vintage Triumph Register - OKC) took third place with 65 correct answers. By all accounts, whether competitive or not, all the participants enjoyed their drives through the beautiful Texas Hill Country.
