2022 VTR SCR Convention

This year's VTR South Central Region Convention was held 21-23 April at the Bevy Hotel in Boerne, Texas.  In addition to celebrating all Triumph automobiles, the Herald was this year's featured model.

A reception was held Thursday evening where old friends and new acquaintances mixed and mingled, renewed old connections and made new ones.

Friday brought the opportunity for many to get out and enjoy the open roads of the Texas hill country and the hospitality of local restaurants.  Several maps of local road trips were provided for convenience or one could just get out and explore on their own.

Friday afternoon’s concours event was held in the local park and was well attended by all classes of Triumphs.  Saturday morning featured an Autocross event where two separate heats were held to allow participants up to five runs through the cones.  The convention was closed out with a banquet where the weeks winners were announced.

Gimmick Rallye

Road rallying can best described as a board game on wheels. Just like in a board game, you get a set of rules, when you first register for the event. These rules govern the actual play of the event.  However, instead of rolling dice, on a road rallye you get a set of route instructions which tell you how and where to turn.  Simple? On the surface. But a road rallye  is designed by a devious rallymaster, who has the personal job of trying to trick you into doing things wrongly.  For more info, click here!

Funkhana

Funkhanas are low-speed, light-hearted competitions conducted by car clubs that are a test of dexterity and patience. Each team, composed of a driver and passenger, must complete tasks — often centered around a theme — that involve car handling, teamwork and especially a sense of humor.  For more info, check out the link here.

Autocross

Fun competition where traffic cones are used to make a miniature race track in a parking lot and see who can get through the quickest without hitting any cones or driving off course.  It sounds simple, but in reality can be quite challenging.  If you're an old hand, bring your helmet and let's go.  For more info, there are several great websites devoted to autocross events, or click here.
